宝鸡文理学院
专科学生，主要培养在外事、教育、经贸、文化、科技、军事等部门从事教学、翻译、管理、研究等工作的复合型外语人才。开设的课程有基础英语、高级英语、英国文学、美国文学、语言学、翻译、商务英语、第二外语（日、俄语）等。此外，外语系还承担全院非英语专业本、专科学生的大学英语教学工作。
学生工作按照坚持一个中心（教学），树立二种理念（以生为本；规范管理，张扬个性），突出三个重点（学风、就业、安全），明确四大任务（教育、管理、帮困、就业）的思路，采取措施，狠抓落实，学生的学习风气明显好转，成效显著。学生参加各类国家考试，成绩连攀新高。结合专业特点，积极开展英语演讲赛、英文话剧汇演、英语沙龙、英语角、义务支教等第二课堂活动，有力地激发了学生学习兴趣，提高了学生的“读、说、听、写”能力。
近年来，外语系形成了鲜明的办学特色。坚持知识、技能、素质全面发展，构建应用型人才培养模式，优化课程体系和教学内容，改进教学方法和教学手段，尊重语言学习的规律，以培养语言能力和文化素养为主线，使学生适应时代要求和人才市场需求，掌握扎实的语言基本功和较强的从业技能，赢得了良好的社会声誉。外语系重视学术研究，加强与国内外大学的联系。与美国瑞欧戈兰大学建立了长期友好的合作关系，现有13名教师正在攻读该校的研究生课程；经常邀请国内外知名学者进行学术交流和访问，聘请美国加州大学终身教授刘军博士、瑞欧戈兰大学终身教授孙建荣博士担任客座和兼职教授来外语系定期讲学，辛辛那提大学Ken Dillard博士曾多次率领美国大学生交流团来外语系进行学术和文化交流。
外语系治学严谨，教学管理严格，注重学风建设，教学质量不断提高。建系以来，为社会输送了一大批优秀的外语人才，先后有百余名学生分别考入北京大学、外交学院、人民大学、复旦大学、西安交通大学等名校攻读博士、硕士学位，一大批毕业生工作在全国各地的教育、科研、管理战线上，在各自的岗位上发挥着重要的作用。外语系学生英语专业四、八级和大学英语四、六级过关率逐年提高，毕业生就业率多年来保持在98%以上。
The Foreign Language & Literature Department——
Developing for the Future
The Foreign Language and Literature Department (FLLD), Baoji University of Arts and Science (BUAS), was founded in 1984. It has two specialties of English Education and Business English as well as three Teaching & Research Sectors of Essential English, Advanced English and Education Theory and Practice for English Majors and No.1 and No.2 Teaching & Research Sectors for Non-English Majors. FLLD is furnished at present with 13 first class language laboratories and two language reference rooms. Over the past 20 years, FLLD has trained more than 2,400 excellent students who are now working in various fields all over China.
FLLD has a large and strong team of experienced teachers. They have had great achievements both in teaching and academic research.
Selecting students nationwide, FLLD sees its main task as training professionals proficient in foreign language education, and the use of foreign language in the fields of tourism, trade and finance, economics and the military in order to contribute to the national economic construction and social advancement.
The department offers Essential English, Advanced English, British Literature, American Literature, Linguistics, Translation Theory & Practice, Business English with Japanese and Russian offered as second languages. The FLLD is also responsible for teaching College English in all other departments in the university. Within the department, there is a focus on the following aspects of student development: 1) Insistance on learning; 2) Developing individuality; 3) Preparing for employment and security; 4) Raising awareness of education, management and poverty relief and other employment issues.
